Before your appointment
-
No sun-beds or sun tanning within 14 days of your appointment.
-
Do not drink any caffeine or alcohol for at least 24 hours before your appointment.
-
Eat a good meal prior to your appointment, drink plenty of fluids, and if you are booked in for a full day session make sure to bring food and drink for during the appointment.
-
Wear comfortable and appropriate clothing for the area being tattooed.
-
If there are any skin issues in the area please let your artist know prior to your appointment.
-
Make sure to disclose all medication and medical conditions to your artist well in advance of your appointment.
Aftercare
-
Always thoroughly wash your hands before touching your tattoo. Dirty hands can spread infection.
-
2-4 Hours after your tattoo, gently remove the wrapping and wash gently but thoroughly with anti-bacterial soap.
-
Dry your tattoo by blotting it with kitchen roll (not tissue or cotton wool). Do not rub at the tattoo to dry it.
-
Next apply a thin layer of your aftercare butter, do not overload the tattoo, just use enough to apply a thin film.
-
Over the next few days, continue to keep your tattoo clean and apply the aftercare butter as needed. Never overload the tattoo, but don't let it dry out.
-
Keep your tattoo out of direct sunlight and away from sunbeds for at least 14 days. After healed, use a sunscreen of at least 30 when in the sun.
-
Your tattoo may flake, peel or scab slightly, this is totally normal, make sure not to pick any scabs as this will effect the final result.
Important points to note
-
Do not soak your tattoo until fully healed ie. no swimming, baths, spas etc This can permanently effect the final outcome of the tattoo.
-
Do not let your tattoo fully dry out during the healing process. This can cause cracks or scabs which may not be able to be fixed by your artist.
-
Do not pick or scratch at your tattoo.
-
Some areas on the body will not take the colour as well, just like some skin types may not. Make sure to contact your artist within 8 weeks of your appointment should you require a touch up. After this time, this will not be possible.
-
If at any stage you are concerned about infection or allergic reaction make sure to contact your artist and a doctor.
